Students will also learn to use hula implements such as the ipu (gourd), pu’ili (a split bamboo rod), the ‘uli ‘uli (feathered gourd rattle), and also the Maori poi ball. Dancers will learn to tell a story using their hands and body movements, while the meanings of the dances will be explained. Basic Tahitian dance movements will also be taught.
Our Polynesian/ Hula & Tahitian instructors travel to Hawaii frequently to study, perform, and bring back their knowledge and love of the culture to our students. We offer our Polynesian/ Hawaiian classes children through adult. “Walk in and hula out!”
